At Aarhus University we want to make the best space entrepreneurs in the world. This we do by making our students work in interdisciplinary projects like DISCO and by helping them in turning their ideas and inventions into successful businesses at The Kitchen.
The European Space Agency has since 2003 initiated 22 Business Incubation Centres (ESA BICs) all over Europa to inspire and work with entrepreneurs to turn space-connected business ideas into commercial startup companies.
This has proven to be a very successful initiative. Over 700 startups have been fostered throughout Europe with thousands of new high tech jobs created thanks to the applications of space systems, the valorization of ESA intellectual properties and the space technologies transfers - and more than 180 new startups are taken in yearly at the ESA BICs.
So far, we are locally supporting 8 ESA BIC startups: Atla.ai, Danish Graphne, Upteko, Montem, Capra Robotics, Hecto Drone, Robotto, and Qase Tech.
