Copenhagen will host Space for Inspiration 2026, ESA’s annual flagship event on the future of space-enabled innovation, taking place 1–2 September 2026.
The event brings together innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, investors and industry leaders from across Europe and beyond to explore emerging opportunities in space research, development and in-orbit production. This year’s edition focuses on the cross-cutting theme Scaling Research and Production in Space, highlighting how microgravity, in-orbit and lunar capabilities are enabling new approaches across multiple domains.
From advanced materials and in-space manufacturing to biotech research and lunar construction, new solutions are shaping how we expand knowledge and capabilities beyond Earth’s limits.
As part of Europe’s fast-growing space ecosystem, Denmark is playing an increasing role in the development of new space technologies and applications. Space for Inspiration 2026 offers a unique opportunity to connect and collaborate with European and global partners across the space value chain.
As part of this year’s event, ESA is also launching the Academic Challenge, inviting academic teams to submit innovative research concepts with strong long-term potential for in-orbit markets and the lunar space resources value chain. The initiative is designed to support the transition from research to real-world application through visibility, pitch development and tailored follow-on support. The call is open to universities and research institutions, with a submission deadline of 5 June 2026.
