Artist group Artluminis – Ina Wittbold & Mette Hansgaard – presents The Journey of Light, an exhibition exploring light through the meeting of art and astronomy.
As part of the exhibition, Karsten Frank Brogaard, Associate Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University, contributes the scientific and astronomical dimension through the Remote Teaching Telescope (FUT) and a series of interactive observations.
During Kulturnatten on Friday, 4 September, visitors can experience a virtual visit to an observatory through VR and make their own astronomical observations of the night sky over Australia using FUT. It will also be possible to explore the local night sky using small smart telescopes.
Karsten, who is project lead and developer of FUT, will guide visitors through the astronomical activities. At 19:15, he will also give a talk about the research behind the observations.
The event brings art and astronomy together, offering visitors an opportunity to experience light not only as an artistic phenomenon, but also as a fundamental source of knowledge about the universe.
